The City of Carcassonne is a medieval architectural complex in the southwest of France. It's the largest fortified city in Europe, with origins dating back to Gallo-Roman times. Its fame comes from its double walls that stretch nearly 3 kilometers in length and feature fifty-two towers. It spectacularly overlooks the Aude valley and is remarkably well-preserved.

It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
